Abbreviations
Abbreviations used in SULLIVANS Knitting Patterns
K=knit
K2 tog=knit two together – knit the next two stitches at once
kp=knit one, purl one, into the next stitch
M1=make 1 – pick up the thread between the 2 stitches with the right hand needle, transfer it to the left needle and then knit into the back of it
P=Purl
psso=pass the slip stitch(es) over
Right side facing= is always the first row
sl=slip
tbl=through the back of loop(s)
ybk=yarn back – take yarn under needle from purl position into knit position
yft=yarn front – bring yarn under the needle from knit position into purl position
yfwd=yarn forward – bring yarn under the needle, then over into the knitting position again, thus making a stitch
yon=yarn over needle – take yarn over top of the needle into knit position, thus making a stitch
yrn=yarn round needle – take the yarn right round the needle into the purling position, thus making a stitch
