20 sts = 10cm and 10 rows = 4cm

(KP) means K1, P1 into next st.
FRONT GUSSET (Starting at the base and
ending at nose.)
With Aquamarine and 4mm needles cast on 17 sts. Work in stkg-st
for 10 ½ cm.(4 1/8 in) Changing to 3mm needles and 8ply
purl 1 row. (Row 1) K2 tog, K to last 2 sts, K2 tog. Purl 1
row, Knit 1 row. (Row 4) P2 tog, P to last 2 sts, P2 tog. Knit
1 row, Purl 1 row. Cont. decreasing in this manner until 7
sts rem. Next Row. P2 tog, P3, P2 tog.Next Row. K2 tog, K1,
K2 tog. Next Row P3 tog. Bind off.
FACE (Starting at top of head and ending
at nose.)
With Aquamarine and 4mm needles, cast on 12 sts. Working in
stkg-st, incr 1 st beg of every row until 26 sts. Changing
to 8ply and 3mm needles, cast off 2 sts beg of next 2 rows.
(22 sts) Dec 1 st both ends of every row until 4 sts rem. (
P2 tog) twice. Bind off.
BACK (Starting at top of head and ending
at base.)
With Aquamarine and 4mm needles, cast on 9 sts. Purl 1 row.
Working in stkg-st, inc 1 st beg of next 24 rows. (33 sts)
Work straight until work measures 15 cm. ( 6 in) Make hole
for tail. P16, yrn, P2 tog, P15. Changing to 8ply, cast on
17 sts. (50 sts) Change to 3mm needles and knit 1 row. (Row
2) (P3, P2 tog) 10 times (40 sts) (Row 3 and alt rows) Knit.
(Row 4) (P2, P2 tog) 10 times (30 sts) (Row 6) (P1, P2 tog)
10 times (20 sts) (Row 8) (P2 tog) 10 times (10 sts) Thread
yarn through these sts, pull up tight and sew up seam to from
a circle for the base.
EARS (US readers please substitute sc
for dc in the following pattern)
With crochet hook and 8ply yarn, make 8 ch.
(1) 1dc in 3rd ch from hook (counting loop on hook) 1dc in
next 5 ch, 2dc in last loop, 1ch, turn.
(2) 1dc in same dc, 1dc in next 6dc, 2dc in last st, 1ch, turn.
(3) 1dc in same dc, 1dc in next 7dc, 2dc in last st, turn.
Cont increasing in this fashion for 2 more rows.
(6) 1dc in same dc, 1dc in next 10dc, 2dc in last st, 2ch,
turn.
(7) Miss first dc, 1dc in next 12 sts, 2ch, turn.
(8) Miss first dc, 1dc in next 10 sts, dc2 tog, 2ch, turn.
(9) Miss first dc, 1dc in next 9 sts, dc2 tog, 2ch, turn.
(10) Miss first dc, 1dc in next 8 sts, dc2 tog, 2ch, turn.
(11) Miss first dc, 1dc in next 7dc, sl st into next st. Bind
off.
Strengthen the edge of the ear by threading matching yarn through
it. Neaten by decorating with buttonhole st in Embroidery Floss.
TAIL and ARMS
With the 8 ply make 2 lengths of French Knitting 16 ½ cm
long (6 ½ in) for tail and arms.
FEET
With 8ply make 72 ch. Fold into 6 loops and sew tog to make
feet.
MAKING UP
Fold corners of ears over, secure and tack, about 3 cm apart,
(1 ¼ in) into place on face. With right sides facing,
join middle of cast-on edge of Face to middle of cast-on edge
of Back. Sew down the side to the widest point of the face.
Rep on other side Attach arms to front gusset and sew into
place leaving an opening at base for turning and stuffing.
Paint eyelids on the Googley Eyes with Acrylic paint. When
dry, protect with a coat of clear nail polish. Embroider features
and tie a length of yarn around neck to give neck shape. |
